His Gentle Way

An outstanding seasoned minister gave some practical advice to a young married couple. This minster was gentle and loving, and portrayed Jesus just as this scripture des

cribes.

Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (ESV)

None of us are perfect, and our heavenly Father knows that better than anyone. In our brokenness it’s important that we know the best and safest place to go.

That place is our gentle Jesus.

  • When do we go to Jesus? All the time and especially when we are labouring and have a heavy burden.

  • Going to Him doesn’t “add” to our labour, but He gives us rest.

  • What is His yoke? In the context of this passage it was the yoke of grace instead of the law. It was an easy yoke.

  • He doesn’t force His yoke on us, we choose to take it.

  • Taking His yoke relieves us of the heavy burdens of the law and we find rest in His grace.

Jesus is gentle, and His yoke is light. Let’s not allow the stresses and burdens of life to overtake us.

Let’s practice running to Jesus and casting all our cares on Him!!

Every blessing to each of you,

Pastor Tony
