I look back and marvel at the many things I didn’t understand while growing up without Christ.
Without the understanding that we are a spirit, we have a soul, and live in a body, most of us wouldn’t understand what produces the words coming out of our mouths.
Proverbs 16:23 The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, and adds learning to his lips. (NKJV)
Proverbs 16:23 The heart of the wise man is the teacher of his mouth, and gives increased learning to his lips. (BBE)
Here are some thoughts about mouth and lips:
Each person saved or not talks from what they believe and understand.
We Christians should talk differently because the source of our words (our heart) is made new in Christ.
Along with a new heart we also have God’s Word that fills our hearts and renews our minds.
As we continue to grow, God’s Word then teaches our mouth to talk like new creatures in Christ.
Even a baby Christian’s mouth and lips will immediately release different vocabulary after being born-again.
The connection between our spiritual hearts and lips is amazing.
Proverbs 10:31a The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom…
Proverbs 10:32a The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable… (ESV)
Remember, as soon as we are made new in Christ, we have a knowing of what is right and wrong, because Jesus becomes our wisdom.
Every blessing to each of you,
Tony
