We’ve all endeavoured to get spiritual truth over to a non-believer and after sharing, realised they didn’t comprehend it. The Bible explains why that occurs:
1 John 4:5 They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them.
1 John 4:6 We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
We can see that the reason is, we are either “from the world” or “from God”.
Here are some thoughts about “on the same page”:
We all speak from the place we’re from, and people from that same place listen to our words.
Therefore, the world listens to the world, and those born of God listen to others who are born of God.
Question: What can we do to get people on “our” page?
1 Corinthians 2:12 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. (ESV)
· As soon as people receive the Spirit of God they begin to understand or they get “on our page”.
Practical Thought: Instead of arguing with an unsaved person about spiritual things, the goal should be reduced to first leading them to Christ.
Getting someone on the same page brings about true fellowship around the Word and the Spirit of God.
