Present and Future Ages

Futuristic movies aren’t everyone’s favorite, however, it’s cool to see how ideas of the future are portrayed. When we watch those kinds of movies we are in our time or “age” and we sit and see ahead to another time or “age”.

The Bible is full of references where a future age is either seen or mentioned beforehand.

Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men

Titus 2:12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age

Titus 2:13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ (NKJV)

Titus is a perfect example of living in the present age while another age is being mentioned.

Here are some thoughts about the present and future ages:

  • Movies often portray the present age as inferior.

  • God however instructs us to make the most of the age we are presently living in.

  • Instead of being instructed to hang on for dear life until the next age, we’re told how to live in the present age.

  • God has plans and purposes for each age and we have the privilege of walking them out in this age.

  • It’s His grace that teaches and empowers us how to walk them out.

  • While we are walking them out, at the same time we are looking for the glorious appearing of our Lord.

The Lord will have a glorious appearing in the coming age, which inspires us to live for Him with all our hearts in this present age.

Every blessing to each of you,

Tony
