We all like the idea of having deeper experiences in God. Each of us may have different ideas of what a deeper experience would be like.
There are a variety of descriptions in the Bible of a deeper experience. One description of a deeper experience that God gave us is in Proverbs 17:10.
Proverbs 17:10 A rebuke goes deeper into a man of understanding than a hundred blows into a fool. (ESV)
Who would of thought correction could give us a deeper experience?
Here are some thoughts about the deeper experience:
The ingredient required to have a deeper experience is understanding.
Possessing understanding liberates us and causes us to not be fearful of correction.
Understanding who we are and what we have in Christ brings the confidence and security to receive correction.
Here is a key piece of helpful understanding:
1 Corinthians 3:21 So let no one boast in men. For all things are yours, (NET)
So, understanding that all things are ours, removes the fear that causes territorialism, insecurity, and any other related fears. There is then no fear that we can lose what’s ours, and as a result, the correction we receive “goes deeper”.
