The Only Way It Works in Us

God’s Word is powerful and can change the destiny of anyone who receives it and acts on it.

There is however one thing necessary for that to happen.

1 Thessalonians 2:13 And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers. (ESV)

Assuming the person who ministers God’s Word has no personal agenda or hidden motives, here are some thoughts about “the only way it works in us”.

  • The phrase; “not as the word of men but as it really is, the Word of God”, is the key to results.

  • Every single truth from God’s Word is from Him and not man.

  • This would apply to forgiveness, walking in love, sowing finances, serving, and on and on...

  • Each truth, promise, or command in God’s Word is independent of the personality of who delivers it. (whether we like them or not)

  • If at any time, we think something is being preached because it helps the preacher, helps the church, or organization we are then receiving it as the word of men.

  • Alternatively, when we receive God’s Word as being from Him, we will end up acting on it because we believe He authored it.

Let’s remember as we sit under the unadulterated Word of God, we can ask ourselves these questions.

How does that apply to me? How can that help me? How do I put that into practice?

Every blessing to each of you,

Tony
